The child MUST have reached the age in parentheses by September. Please call the The Dancenter for placement in other level classes.
Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with our studio policies and information. These policies are intended to insure that every student receives individual attention, an opportunity to advance and to support the disciplines so vital to their success. We are pleased you have selected the Dancenter. We pledge ourselves to give each student a qualified program of dance. Download the Dancenter Brochure The DancenterThe Dancenter offers a wide range of instruction from beginning levels to preparation for professional performing. The primary objective of each class is to instill a love for dance and the technique for creative performance appropriate to the level of training. A growing interest for advanced students has been in the area of teaching. Tutorial programs for teachers of dance are offered by invitation. Perspective teachers receive instruction from the Dancenter faculty while serving as class demonstrators or teaching assistants. A third reason for dance training is the development of poise and experience by performing before the public. Our students gain self-confidence that helps them in competitive situations and in future career choices. The Dancenter is home to "The Danscompany," of Gainesville, Inc., a non-profit performing group of inspired dancers. This company presents two major concerts each year featuring ballet, jazz, modern and tap performances. It also performs for a variety of community service and educational events. The company has garnered widespread public support in Gainesville for its exciting presentations of dance. Children, teens, and adults who exhibit superior skill and a willingness to work are afforded the opportunity to take part in the company through adjudicated audition in the fall of each year. Each student receives four weeks of instructions per month. There are several months in which five lessons are provided which accounts for the classes missed during holidays. The studio recognizes that some classes may be short a day. Students may make up those missing classes if any in other equivalent class offered at the studio. Return to Top Drop Out PreventionOver the years we have learned that the interest level of children waivers after the newness of class has worn off. Your child may decide they would rather stay home. This is normal and should not be considered a loss of interest. Gentle encouragement is needed in both the classroom and home. Once a child has completed the first year and participated in the Annual Production both parent and child will experience a feeling of accomplishment and pride from their dance experience. Return to Top Annual ProductionThe annual production is held the first or second week of June and displays a year of work and accomplishment. All students are invited to perform in the production. Participating students will require a costume for each class they perform in. The costumes are selected by the teachers to offer the greatest value and appearance. The costumes are ordered in December and January and vary in cost. A Non-Refundable Costume deposit of $50.00 will be required for each costume. Students will be billed in October and deposits must be paid in full by December 15th .Costume Deposits not paid in full will not be ordered. A production fee of approximately $55.00 will be required from each student prior to the production. Before costumes may be released all fees, charges and account balances must be satisfied.
